Inter-Church Council works substantially with the Greater New Bedford Suicide Prevention Coalition. The coalitions mission is about building a network to save lives because every life is precious Our goal is to raise awareness about suicide in our community, particularly youth suicides. There was a 59% increase in suicide from 2017 to 2018 and our goal is to eliminate that through education and proper training.

Inter-Church Council also works with the Greater New Bedford Opioid Task Force. Opioid related deaths have increased 19% from 2017 to 2018 in New Bedford alone, and we work with the opioid taskforce to develop strategic planning efforts to combat addiction. We hope to educate and train in prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery

Inter-Church Council in addition collaborates with New Bedford Homeless Service Providers Network. Homelessness is a major issue and has increased 9% in New Bedford, and we hope to eliminate it entirely. HSPN is committed towards ensuring every individual and every family has access to sustainable and safe housing.
